Event Details

Coral reefs and the oceans in which they live, need our help to become and stay beautiful, healthy and thriving, and filled with colourful fish, critters, corals and sponges.

Which is why you’re invited to our monthly Clean Up dive on our PADI AWARE Adopted Dive Site, “The Dive Bus Office”, better known as Pierbaai Reef and Car Pile, are 2 of Curacao’s healthiest, best and most popular dive sites.

Since 2005, thanks to of hundreds of divers like you, we’ve removed tons of trash, during countless Clean Up dives on these beautiful reefs.

So even if you can’t make it to this month’s Clean Up dive, please share this event, to reach and motivate as many divers as possible to join in and protect Curacao’s reefs from our trash. Thanks 🙂

MORE INFO:

How much?

The Clean Up dives are FREE to join, tanks and weights included, equipment rental special price = 25 NAFl. Book equipment in advance to ensure we have enough for everyone.

How long?

The briefing and dive last around 1.5 hours. Logging the trash collected – critical data for Project AWARE – takes about 30 mins, depending on how much trash we all collect. The rest depends on how many cold beers you enjoy with your new dive buddies + friends once all the work’s done 🙂

First timer?

You’re VERY welcome! For the safety of you and your dive buddy, and to avoid damaging the reef and doing more harm than good, you’ll need to have made at least 1 “regular” dive with a TDB Instructor before joining in a Clean Up.

Drop us an email or swing by The Dive Bus to set this up.

What to bring on a Clean Up dive?

Gloves (washing-up ones work) + cutting tools like line cutters or scissors. These are available to buy in the dive shop if you don’t have your own yet.

Why do we log the trash we collect?

Data about the debris collected from these dives is sent to PADI AWARE, as part of their ongoing, worldwide underwater trash.
Our data, along with data from thousands of PADI dive shops around the world, helps identify critical trends and changes.

Through this, PADI AWARE is able to better focus their efforts to significantly reduce the amount of trash entering our oceans each year and destroying critical habitats…

Not a diver?

You’re very welcome to join in by cleaning up trash from the land and beaches, ensuring that it never enters the ocean in the first place.

Extra pairs of hands to help sort and log the trash for the debris survey are always welcome.
